The NC State University Club Swim Team is a charter member of the Tarheel Swimming Association (TSA), which comprises 82 swim teams from private, non-profit clubs in the Raleigh/Wake County area. Teams are placed into divisions of four teams each based on the past year’s performance in dual meets. The goals of TSA and University Club swimming are three-fold:
1) to improve the swimming skills of each participant
2) to sponsor and encourage fun for the swim team members
3) to provide a vehicle for that fun that encourages team spirit, sportsmanship, and an understanding of healthy competition.
The swim team may be comprised of children and grandchildren of University Club members. Children living in a member’s household may also participate on the team. A swimmer does not need to be a competitive swimmer to join the team since one of the aims is improvement of skills. However, the demonstration of minimal water safety is a requirement. Basic swimming ability is necessary to practice safely with the team, therefore, all swimmers must pass a swim test before starting to practice with the team. Swimmers may join the team at any point in the season and participate for any length of time during the season. In order to participate in a meet, the swimmer must sign up in advance of the meet! Home Meets will be held in the UCLUB Salt-Water 6-lane Pool! The UClub usually averages 250-300 registered swimmers each summer. We do have a group that doesn't swim in the dual meets...this is our WolfPUPS Group. There are set practices and 2 Saturday Mock Meets for them.
For questions...please send an email to [email protected]. This email account will be checked routinely leading up to and during the season. However, if your question or request is of an urgent nature, please contact the Club office for assistance. Swim fast and have FUN!
Registration and Fees
Swimmers must be registered online before they are able to participate in any swim test, practices or meets. Registration will open early spring and will have a link on top right of the homepage.
First Swimmer's Fee: $150
Additional Family Swimmers' Fee: $120
An administrative fee is collected at the beginning of the season to cover entry fees for meets, trophies, ribbons, coach’s salaries, and incidental expenses. Additional costs, which are optional, include team suits, shirts, towels, and pictures. Registration fees are charged to member's Club account.
Team Communication
The Pool Committee, Coaches, and Club Staff utilize all means at our disposal to provide timely and pertinent information to families.
The team website is the number one source for information. Any changes or additions to the team calendar are sent via email when posted on the site. Emails sent from SwimTopia will be sent to all addresses from the current season’s registrants. If you need to add or delete an email address, or are not receiving team emails, please send an email to [email protected].
SwimTopia Mobile App will push team alerts for weather delays/cancellations, swim results, sign up for meets, view your volunteer commitments, and more. A paid subscription is not required but will provide more information like you child's times after races.
Family Folders are used to distribute ribbons and other items to specific individuals. The folders are kept in plastic containers and are placed on the floor in the hallway between the locker rooms during the season.
